Diets

about these fad diets, the truth of the matter is that these diets ...

We have all tried diets at one time or another and more often than not we have strayed from them within the first few weeks. New fads and crazes come and go, are hailed as the future and then quickly cast asunder as the negative effects become widespread knowledge.

We cut out junk foods, we only eat certain foods we have cereal for two of our three meals a day and end up craving just about any other food we set eyes on. We buy specific diet products and packaged meals and foods that have only half the calories but cost twice the price.

So what’s the solution?

Eating healthily and following a balanced diet can really help us to live life to the full without the upheaval of starting or continuing diets that help us lose weight in the short term but invariably put it back on as we move back into our old eating habits.

The amount of and type of food you eat can have a major impact on your health, and the body needs a range of nutrients to help it to work to its optimum level.

With scores of evidence showing that a healthy diet can reduce the risk of a variety of illnesses including obesity, diabetes, strokes, heart disease, osteoporosis and cancer it is really important to eat a wide variety of food in the right quantities. This can be achieved by eating foods from the 5 main food groups. These are:

• Fruit and vegetables

• Dairy

• Protein

• Fats and sugars

• Starchy foods

It is important to eat foods from each of these food groups as it enables vital processes in the body to occur. Each of the food groups can help the body in different ways and some of these benefits are displayed below:

Fruit and vegetables are a vital source of vitamins and minerals that have a variety of functions. For example iron is needed to transport oxygen in the blood and vitamin C is important for healing wounds.

Dairy foods are a good source of protein and also provide calcium which keeps bones healthy. They are sometimes high in saturated fat but this is ok in moderation.

Protein is found in meat, fish, eggs and beans. It provides the body with a source of energy and is essential in helping the growth and repair of body tissues.

Fats and sugars are found in cakes, butter, crisps and mayonnaise amongst others. It is good in small amounts and certain types are better than others, Omega 3 being a prime example.

Starchy foods such as potatoes, rice, pasta, bread and cereals are very important to a healthy diet. They contain fibre, vitamins and minerals and are the main source of energy for our bodies. Brown varieties of rice, pasta and bread are particularly good for you and contain higher levels of fibre, vitamins and minerals than the white varieties.

Now you know the facts about food groups you can start to make a change in your eating habits. So ditch the diet, eat healthily all the time, exercise regularly at your local health club and gym and your body will definitely benefit.

Sensible Diet

The Sensible Diet.... The Only Diet You Will Ever Need!

Most people are already aware that diet and exercise plan should be balanced in order to have healthy lifestyle. The question for many becomes how to have balanced diet, rather than whether to eat a balanced diet. The truth is that if you've been following a sensible diet and exercise plan, the chances are good for success and here are some tips to help you on your weight loss journey.

One way to accomplish this balancing act is to do some planning. Ask yourself what types of foods you and your family like to eat. Make a list of as many foods as possible. Next, take the list and assign each food to a category. The categories you choose should be closely aligned with the standard groups identified on the food pyramid. You might have groups for fruits, vegetables, whole grains, other starches, lean proteins, dairy, other proteins, etc.

Diet and exercise is essential for healthy weight loss. Gyms around the world are enjoying their increased-traffic-and-income days. Millions of people are flocking to fitness rooms because they've told themselves—again—they're really going to follow diet and exercise plan more this year. Some—again—have already found their zeal's vanished into thin air. Unlike their pounds.

This is generally the time when our excitement and motivation to lose weight stares the cold, hard facts in the face: weight loss is not a one-month activity. Healthy diet and exercise plan must become a way of life in order to work. Suzanne Somers can't lose the pounds for you. Neither can Jenny Craig. So stop trying to find fad diets or quick-fix weight loss programs.

Losing weight is tough. Keeping it off is even tougher. You have to go into it with the right mind set. Whether you're trying to do it to look better, feel better or improve your health, let that be your starting point. Then do the research. Make an educated, informed decision based on your physical condition, your nutrition preferences, and your lifestyle.

If you know what you're doing and why, you'll find it easier to stick with it for the long haul. Sure, you can go on any diet and lose five pounds in two days, but that wreaks havoc on your body. The more sensible thing to do is get informed, eat moderately, and exercise regularly.

You can lose weight on almost any diet. The type of diet itself is not as important as your motivation, patience and perseverance. Turn your knowledge into power by finding what works for you, and you'll see the difference soon. You are the one who has to make the shift in attitude. You are the one who has to work hard on not only getting healthy but staying healthy. You are the one who has to make a life-long commitment to this goal. It's a tough job, but well worth the effort. Let the healthy diet and exercise plan be something that guides, rather than controls your life. And just remember that sensible diet and exercise plan is like other important things in life: it takes time and sweat, but the result is well worth the effort!

If you search online for a lose weight diet then you will find that there are plenty to be found but how do you know which actually work and which can do more harm than good. There is one simple rule when it comes to losing weight and keeping the weight off and that is to do it slowly.

If you were to suddenly cut down your intake of food drastically then you would do more harm than good. For one your body would think you were suffering through a famine, so when you do eat it will store fat and this is not what you want. The ideal way to start a diet is slowly and the same applies to starting exercise. Exercise is good for you but not if you suddenly put on running shoes and try to do a ten mile run. An exercise and diet plan needs to be started at a slow pace.

You should also be aware of any lose weight diet that severely restricts what you can and cannot eat. Different foods are essential in any diet when it comes to losing weight while remaining fit and healthy at the same time. Leaving out certain types of food as some diets dictate could mean that you lose out on essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals, which would be detrimental to your wellbeing.

The best lose weight diet would be one that follows the simple solution of reducing the amount of calories that you eat in a day while increasing exercise slowly. By doing this you will encourage your body to use the stores of fat it keeps and by doing so shed some weight. Individuals start and stop diets regularly, they lose a little weight get bored with the diet and then end up gaining more weight than they lost and so diet again. This type of dieting is called yo-yo dieting and again causes more harm than good. When attempting to lose weight and keep it off then you should think about a change of lifestyle. A good diet will ask that you lose no more than 1 or 2 pounds per week and so if you have a lot of weight to lose then it can take months or longer.

If you base your diet on losing 1 to 2 pounds per week then you need to cut 300 to 500 calories out of your diet per day. While 1 or 2 pounds does not sound like a lot, over a 12 month period you would lose 3 stone. When starting on a lose weight diet there are some steps you can take to get into it gradually. Replace fizzy drinks with plain water or fruit juice and use low fat margarine or none at all on sandwiches. If you drink tea of coffee then have one less sugar or use sweetener and drinking a glass of water before your main meal can make you feel fuller and stop you overeating. All these tips are excellent ways of getting started without actually having to make harsh changes.

Sensible Dieting

Sensible Dieting

Zumba has benefited hundreds of thousands of individuals in the past few years. To truly realize the effects of the fitness program, you need to incorporate a sound and sensible diet too. You will find that the advantages grow more in number and quality in the least amount of time. Here are some diet tips that will help you stay fit and lean for the long term.

Basic Diet Tips

Eat small frequent meals to rev up your metabolism. Anywhere between 5 to 8 meals per day is very good. You need to eat something every few hours to churn your digestive system, thereby upping your metabolism so you get to burn fat more while exercising and continue shedding weight off even when you're at rest. Mix lean protein and complex carbohydrates only. Take sources from lean meat cuts, eggs, low fat dairy products, fruits, vegetables, oatmeal, brown rice and yams.

It is also important to hydrate especially before starting your workout. Drink a gallon of water a day to help your body readily get rid of excess water and fluids. Drink 1 to 2 glasses of water before beginning your Zumba workout. Never skip meals since your body may be led to hoard fat. Your metabolism also slows down if you miss meals. It will help significantly to map out your diet or food choices for the entire week. Pack your snacks and lunch so you avoid having to eat at unhealthy places like fast food stores.

Good Alternatives

Try to eat more of natural food sources like whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables and fish or lean meat cuts. Stay away from processed and refined food choices, sugar and white flour. Also avoid alcohol, smoking and oily or fried foods. As much as possible, grill, boil, broil or stir fry foods only for added health benefits and faster weight loss. You can practice portion control when eating to avoid eating too much. It takes about 20 minutes for the brain to realize that the stomach is full. Chew your food and eat slowly. Snacks should also be healthy such as almonds, a piece of fruit or a protein shake.

In the Morning

For breakfast, you can eat 1/4 cup of steel cut oats cooked in 1 cup of rice milk. Add a scoop of protein powder, some strawberries, raisins and milk for flavor. Also eat more protein such as 4 egg whites cooked with veggies or low fat cottage cheese. For your morning snack, eat low fat yogurt. For lunch, eat a 6 to 8 ounce lean steak or turkey plus vegetables. You may also have whole grain bread or brown rice. Stay away from mayonnaise and fatty dressings.

PM Menu for Zumba Dieters

In the afternoon, you can gulp down another protein shake or eat a sweet potato or piece of fruit. Some form of carbohydrate is good before you begin your Zumba workout to give you added strength and energy. For dinner, consume a 6 to 8-ounce steak or chicken breast, plus vegetables with low fat dressing like vinaigrette or balsamic. It is not usually recommended to consume any more carbohydrates after 4 in the afternoon since the body no longer has enough activity or time to burn everything off.

In the evening you can snack on low fat yogurt or 2 tablespoons of low fat peanut butter. Before bed, drink a glass of low fat milk or snack on low fat cottage cheese.

Best Diet

Why the Best Diet Recipes Should Contain Cloves.

So, it's New Year's resolution time again. Are you preparing for the umpteenth New Year's diet recipe? Which one will it be this time around? The cookie diet, the cayenne pepper diet, the Suzanne Somers diet, the maple syrup diet, a rapid weight loss pill, or one of the other quick weight loss fads of the moment? Why don't you join me in making this New Year's diet a common sense occasion? Let's take a look at 5 easy-to-take steps that can introduce you to the best diet for life. Steps that stop yo-yo dieting permanently, while ensuring fat loss and a healthy, toned body.

Step 1. Don't Get Ripped Off With Rapid Weight Loss Pills And Potions

We have all seen the ads:

Lose 10 pounds in 3 days.
30 Pounds in 30 days.
Drop 2 sizes in 2 weeks without exercise.
Vibrate your way to a slim figure.
Shake off 50 pounds of fat with magical shakes.

The weight loss industry knows its vulnerable target market intimately - especially when it comes to New Year diets. These innovative marketers are very much aware of the buttons they need to push to get you to part with your hard-earned cash. The two main themes are instant gratification and anything that sounds like an easy, quick fix.

Let's use our common sense. The weight came on over a long period. The bad habits weren't formed overnight. How can we expect to lose all the 'bad stuff' overnight and keep it off for life? If we don't change our lifestyles, the unwelcome pounds will just come piling back - and invite a bunch of friends to boot. How many times have you dropped a number of pounds in a short period, only to gain it back with dividends within an even shorter period? Isn't it time to say: 'Enough'?

Step 2. Use Your New Year's Diet To Lose Fat, Not Water And Muscle

It is fairly easy to lose weight. It is much harder to keep it off. If you want to be successful in your weight loss efforts, you need to keep a close watch on your body composition. If you are losing water and muscle, you are not doing your body any favors. In fact, you will be slowing down your metabolism, causing an even greater weight gain headache.

If you choose the road of patience, you will be more likely to lose the fat, without putting your metabolism on a go-slow strike in the process. There simply is no way to do this overnight. Your target should be to lose around 2 pounds per week. Use tools such as a skinfold caliper to check that you are in fact losing fat. This can be done at home, but you may get more accurate results at a health club.

Step 3. Throw Out The Shakes, Meal Replacements And Starvation Tactics

The best diet for life should include a new healthstyle for your whole family. You can't live on meal replacements or cabbage soup. Your body and mind will never be satisfied with a shake in place of a filling, chewy, delicious, aromatic meal. Meal replacements can never be long-term solutions. They simply put your body into a sort of starvation mode, which is why you simply gain the weight again when the diet is 'over'. You need a diet and nutrition plan you can maintain for life.

Frankly, we have been made to enjoy good food. There is nothing wrong with that. In fact, we can and should even feel free to 'cheat' from time to time and enjoy a treat, without losing the weight battle. Try not to make food an issue. Teach your kids to prepare food in a healthy low-fat way, and they will never have reason to deprive and punish themselves with starvation diets. We need the aroma, the textures, the beautiful colors and the pleasure of good, healthy food. Make that part of your New Year diet recipe.

Step 4. Take Out A Calculator And Learn To Do The Math

Perhaps we should stop thinking in terms of a New Year's diet altogether. If you need to drop 10 or 30 or even 100 pounds, you can do this by simply making a few sums and changing some habits. You will not even feel deprived. Did you know that you could save 22,000 calories and lose around 6 pounds of fat in a year by simply switching from whole milk to skim milk? Or that by reducing your daily mayonnaise habit by one tablespoon daily, you could make another 9 pounds of flab and fat disappear over 12 months? This without taking any other steps.

Do some research and find other examples that can easily be incorporated into your new family healthstyle. Get the kids involved and they will soon discover that they only need to make smarter food choices. What can be easier than this? You can even give a prize to the family member who comes up with the most useful New Year diet suggestion.

Step 5. Make Family Activity A Fun Part Of Every Day

If you want to change the size of your butt, you have to drop the 'but' and start exercising. There simply is no other choice - you move, and the fat will start to move. Excuses and inactivity won't get you into that skin-tight pair of jeans. Don't have the cash for a gym membership? No problem. There are many affordable fitness equipment tools for home use. Put on some of the best workout music, and get an exercise ball workout going. Or set the kid in you free with an urban rebounder exercise routine.

Frankly, you don't even need to buy any special equipment. How about a brisk walk or a family bike ride daily? Twenty to thirty minutes of activity 5 days a week, will make a huge difference. Your metabolism will be revved up, enabling you to burn fat faster, even while you sleep. Used to saying 'I just have to look at a piece of pie to gain 5 pounds'? When your metabolism starts to work efficiently, this problem will disappear. You will find that extra pounds begin to look for another host. You can also add workouts with free weights. The extra muscle mass will become like a furnace when it comes to burning calories. Doesn't this sound like a new year diet recipe for success?

Aren't these 5 common sense steps all doable and affordable? If you need more guidance when it comes to nutrition and a weight loss cardio workout, you can tap into the knowledge of experts who know exactly what you need to do to burn the fat, while you feed the muscle.

Isn't it time to forget about yet another apple cider vinegar diet? Isn't it time to take the first steps in the direction of a new healthstyle, while putting together your family's New Year's diet?

Wondering about Medifast?

The Medifast diet program has been helping people lose weight for over 25 years. It's been recommended by over 20,000 doctors to their weight loss patients.

Medifast also gets you faster weight loss than many diets. You can lose up to 5 pounds per week vs the traditional diet plan of 1 - 2 pounds per week.

How does it work and what does it give you vs. other diets?

This article will answer those 2 questions.

So how does the Medifast diet program work?

Medifast is a unique weight loss plan where you eat 5 Medifast meals every day (shakes, soups, oatmeal, pudding, brownies, bars, chili etc.). You also add in your own "lean and green" meal which can be a greed salad or vegetables with a lean meat like chicken or salmon.

Medifast meals contain plenty of low-fat protein and fiber along with essential vitamins and nutrients. So you can slim down in a healthy weight, while getting all of your essential nutrition. The meals are also low glycemic which makes them appropriate for type 2 diabetics who want to lose weight.

Medifast has plans for women and men as well as specialized plans for type 2 diabetics. And they also sell shakes for women that contain black cohosh, echinacea, and chaste tree berry, which may help to reduce symptoms of menopause like hot flashes or night sweats.

Advantages of the Medifast Diet Program:

This diet does help you lose weight faster than a standard diet. And it's still doctor approved - so you know you're slimming down without the health risks of a fad diet.

The program is simple to follow as most meals can be prepared within 5 minutes or less. Plus you're eating 6 times per day (5 Medifast meals plus 1 lean and green meal). So you don't feel hungry.

Another thing that many people really enjoy is the addition of the lean and green meal. You can go eat at a restaurant and stick to your diet (most restaurants have meals that fit into the "lean and green meal" criteria like salmon and steamed vegetables or lean chicken breast with salad).

Another advantage to this diet is that it's much more affordable than other diet meal delivery services. It only costs about a day (plus the cost of your lean and green meal). So basically it costs less than you probably spend on food every day.

Can the Medifast diet program help you reach your weight loss goal?

Medifast has been proven to work for thousands of people - which is probably why it's still here after 25 years. It's worked for people with 20 pounds to lose to people with 200 pounds to lose. So it will work if you're willing to follow the program.

While the meals are not necessarily "gourmet", they do help you lose weight very fast - and there's a maintenance plan so you can transition off the diet safely. So if you're looking for a way to lose weight that's easy to follow and proven to work for over 25 years, Medifast may be right for you.

Diet Aids

Why do people want to lose weight? The answer to this is complex and can involve a wide variety of factors. While some people recognize the damage they are doing to their body by carrying more weight than it was designed to carry, others may decide to lose weight for purely aesthetic reasons.

The only sensible reason to lose weight is because you are overweight and therefore putting your body, particularly your heart, at risk. Exercise becomes difficult and minor illnesses affect you as a result. The fact is, if you are overweight, you are unhealthy.

So, what is overweight? Although there are weight charts which give a general idea of what weight you should be for your height, important to weigh yourself at the same time each day and under the same conditions. For women, it is essential to realize that your weight can fluctuate alarmingly during the menstrual cycle. You should keep a chart of your weight patterns and a diary of the food you eat in order to understand how various foods affect your body.

Each individual is different and these charts can only provide a general guide. One way to determine whether you are overweight is by the ‘pinch test’. Pinch your flesh just above the waistline and if you have two inches or more, you are overweight. Or, just simply stand in front of a mirror, naked, and turn sideways – you will soon notice if you have too many bulges.

Successful weight loss

Before starting any weight loss program successfully, you need to assess your eating and drinking habits. There may be medical problems such as hypothyroidism or poly cystic ovaries syndrome involved. Your first step is to consult your doctor to rule out any medical reasons for your weight problem. Also, if you drink alcohol on a regular basis, it is time to cut back. If medical problems are ruled out, then start a food diary of everything you eat and drink each day. Do this for at least one week and then assess what you need to abstain from or cut back on. Often, you can replace these ‘bad’ foods with low fat alternatives.

Learning to re-educate your palate is not so easy despite the preachings of many that it is the only way to achieve permanent weight loss. This is because the brain controls our eating and drinking patterns, telling us when to eat, when to stop and so forth. For this reason, you need to assess whether you prefer to eat three calorie controlled meals per day or whether you would prefer a diet that includes small snacks throughout the day. It is only by knowing your own eating habits that you can choose a diet that will result in long term weight loss. Whatever you decide, always seek medical advice first.

Before choosing a diet, it is necessary to consider the huge variety of diets available. Although some diets promise drastic weight loss, we should remember that two to three pounds per week is considered to be a safe weight loss. Without a regular, balanced diet, your body will lack essential minerals and vitamins and will therefore fail to function efficiently.

In general, it is accepted that diets based on counting calories or carbohydrates or those that concentrate on fat control are the most successful. When counting carbohydrates, it is essential to remember that the body needs at least 50 grams of carbohydrates each day for proper brain function. Any low carbohydrate diet that allocates less than that is dangerous.

Calorie control

We hear all about calories and how we need to count our calories but what exactly is a calorie? It is basically a unit of heat or energy. All food and drink contains these units of energy and, if your intake of calories is the same as your output, you will remain at a normal weight. However, if your intake becomes more than your output, the body will store the excess as fat. A continued diet of high calories will lead to obesity. It is therefore essential to reduce this intake to reduce this storage of fat. Normally, a safe weight loss is achieved by following a diet of around 900 and 1200 calories per day, depending on whether you lead a sedentary or an active lifestyle.

Fat control

To practice fat control, it is necessary to eliminate the visible fats such as butter, margarine, oils, and the visible fat on meat. There are sufficient hidden fats in meat, fish, and dairy products to provide the necessary fats for the body. There are also many low fat products on the market and these are a sensible substitute. Diets that work on fat control are normally very successful.

Carbohydrate control

There are two main groups of carbohydrates and these are sugar and starch. Sugar includes all sweetened foods such as sweets, desserts, cakes, and biscuits. Starches include bread, potatoes, grains, cereals, beans, and lentils.

Usually, low carbohydrate diets are based on an accurate balance of foods and therefore do not allow for deviations. This balance is designed to burn the fat quickly. It is essential that a low carbohydrate diet is strictly monitored as the body needs to find its vital energy from replacement foods. Carbohydrates are the body’s source of heat and energy.

One component that is vital in any successful diet is water. To encourage the kidneys to work more efficiently, it is important to drink at least two litres of water daily. It is best to drink the water as it is but, if you find that difficult, you may take it in the form of tea or coffee as long as it is black and unsweetened.

Diet aids

There are currently many diet aids on the market and these can be very beneficial to those who feel that they need the extra help. These come in forms of appetite control suppressants, meal replacement drinks, and a variety of special diet food.

Appetite suppressants, whether they come in tablets or sweets, are designed to curb hunger pangs. Unfortunately, the sweets do not help to reeducate the sweet cravings.

If you find it difficult to count calories, meal replacement drinks and other diet foods can be very useful as the work has already been done for you. These can be used for up to two meals a day. There are also diet cookies but these should only be taken as a meal and not as a snack as they are still quite high in calories.

Drastic measures

Some people take drastic measures in their quest for a slimmer body but the reality is that willpower cannot be substituted.

Certainly, there has been some success with hypnosis and acupuncture but these cannot be undertaken lightly. Hypnosis, if not carried out by a professional, can be quite dangerous. Acupuncture, though quite successful, need to be ongoing on a regular basis over a long period of time.

There is also surgery that can be performed to remove fat from localized areas but this is only done if the person is very obese and if the surgeon is convinced that it is absolutely necessary. Likewise, the use of amphetamine based drugs for weight loss must be strictly monitored by a medical professional because of the danger of addiction.

Another dangerous practice is the use of laxatives and diuretics as diet aids. It is much better to eat more roughage to relieve constipation if necessary. Laxatives should never be used to increase the loss of body waste. Similarly, the use of diuretics for anything other than chronic fluid retention is dangerous and should not be used as a diet aid. If the dieter believes that they are suffering from water retention, they should increase their water consumption and decrease their salt intake. If this does not help, diuretics may be prescribed by a doctor.

Exercise

An important factor in weight loss is exercise. This doesn’t mean that you need to join a gym or purchase expensive exercise equipment. One of the best forms of exercise is walking. Start small and increase until you are comfortable. Not only does it assist with weight loss, it also stimulates the endorphins which makes you feel much happier. Physically, it assists your muscles and joints, increases your oxygen intake, and increases circulation. Thus, it is extremely important to your overall health and wellbeing.

Liquid Diet

Clear Liquid Diet

One of the easiest ways of getting tons of nutrition while helping your chances of losing weight is through a liquid diet. Now I’m not talking about packaged protein shakes or low calorie drinks but rather whole food smoothies and juices that pack tons of fruits and vegetables into a single glass.

The recommended daily intake of fruits and vegetables is 5-10 servings yet less than 20% of North Americans meet that requirement. The reasons are many but a very simple way to remedy this issue is to get a number of those servings by way of a single smoothie or juice.

This way not only will you get an abundance of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants but you also lessen the burden on your digestive system. I’m sure you can understand that anything liquid takes far less time to digest than a solid food. It just makes sense since the ingredients have already been “predigested” by the blending or juicing process.

This applies to weight loss in the following manner. When you eat foods, they are digested, broken down, and absorbed into the blood to go to their final destination. Much of the time, though, the meals many people eat are so heavy that it takes them hours to digest.

As a result, the body is required to divert huge amounts of energy to the digestion process. Fatigue and lethargy are usually the first signs that this is taking place. I’m sure you’ve experienced this after a big Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner.

Since most people have underactive digestive systems many of these solid meals don’t get properly digested. They place heavy demands on the stomach and digestive organs and ultimately don’t nourish the body as it needs to be. If foods come into your body and are not properly broken down they are more easily stored as fat (since they can’t be utilized) and have a tendency to clog up the intestinal tract, impeding proper elimination.

More foods being stored as fat (especially if they’re cooked foods) and an impaired ability to eliminate them can only mean that weight is being added (not lost) to your body. Food comes in but doesn’t go out – it’s got to go somewhere.

THE LIQUID SOLUTION

So if you want to lose weight and you can identify with the above scenarios, why not try a different approach?

Try incorporating more smoothies and fresh-pressed juices into your diet. Most of the smoothies and juices I make take no more than 5 minutes to prepare yet pack in about 4-8 servings of fruits and vegetables, and other superfoods!

This means that with just 2 smoothies or juices per day I can get more than my needed intake of fruits and vegetables. This has pretty obvious health benefits. It is also immensely beneficial for weight loss seekers.

Liquid meals reduce the load on your digestive system. It’s almost as if the nutrients bypass the entire process of digestion and get absorbed right to where they need to be.

The benefits to juicing and making your own smoothies are numerous, but needless to say you have to give them a shot to truly feel their full power.

There are so many lose weight diets online; the water diet, the grapefruit diet, etc. - all promising spectacular results as long as you eat this, avoid that, drink some concoction and run three miles a day. Theyre all different and confusing, many with contradictory information its enough to drive you to a pint of Haagen-Dazs. But most of the more sensible diets recommend that detoxifying and flushing out your body is a good first step. And the best way to do that is to drink plenty of fluids in fact, its suggested that you fast for one day per week and drink only water. But stop a moment - why not try juices for fasting? It works and heres how.

Fasting is good for the body; it gives your digestive system a break so that it can work on detoxifying itself. But fasting means youre not taking in those nutrients which your body must have. All those nutrients - vitamins, minerals and trace elements are critical to health and using juices for fasting is the best, easiest and cheapest way to ensure you get them. Vegetable juices are loaded with nutrients and as you blend them, youll find that your glass of juice will taste great. Its providing what your body needs and best of all, drinking juices for fasting bypasses your digestive system as they enter the bloodstream almost immediately, delivering nutrients to cells, bone, skin and tissue as well as supporting the detoxifying process.

Drinking vegetable juices for fasting should not continue for more than a week as you do need the proteins from meats, eggs and cheese. But a week will do miracles for your body; clearer skin, brighter eyes and shiny thicker hair in addition to cleansing out the toxins. And your energy level will soar.

Buy your veggies as fresh as possible, wash them well to remove pesticides and contaminants, chunk them without peeling and toss them in the juicer. Try a blend of carrots, wheatgrass and kale packed with vitamins and beta-carotene which becomes vitamin A in the body. Replace the wheatgrass with spinach, rich in bone-healthy Vitamin K, trace elements like magnesium, calcium and manganese, folate for cell-building, potassium and vitamins B6 and B2; mighty stuff, all in one little bunch! Add a clove of garlic, some onion or perhaps a little ginger.

Heres another recipe you can use for juices for fasting cucumber, parsley, celery and a ripe, red tomato to get double the amount of Vitamin C. Cucumber is great, delicate flavor, lots of juice and excellent for removing toxins. And if you find that your blends of vegetable juice could use a little sweetness, add an apple.

Try to prepare your juices for fasting just before you drink them some of the vitamins and nutrients are lost if you make it ahead of time. But if you have to juice your veggies now for later consumption, pour them into a glass jar with a tight sealable lid canning jars are ideal for this and theyre the right size and refrigerate them for no longer than three days.
